Marshland High School Pink Ladies take part in the King’s Lynn Park Run for charity

Marshland High School’s hockey team – The Pink Ladies – are back at it again this Saturday as they take on the King’s Lynn Park Run for their annual charity event.

All students and staff at Marshland understand that they need to be active for their well-being, but students are not organizing this event for themselves.

Instead, they lace up their running shoes for a good cause.

The Pink Ladies handed over £3,878 to the Angles Theatre in Wisbech after completing their annual charity walk.

Over the past seven years, the Pink Ladies, who play hockey for their school against other schools in the region, have raised thousands of dollars for local charities and good causes, and have supported national charities such as McMillan, Cancer Research and the NSPCC.

Recently they have focused mainly on local charities, such as supporting a fellow pupil with cancer, the Fenland Women’s Shelter and the Angles Theatre.

The Wisbech Theatre, the only remaining theatre in Fenland, is again the recipient of the fundraising this year, having raised £3,878 for it last year.

Paul Swinburn, Head of Physical Education at Marshland and former international hockey player said: “I’m incredibly proud of these girls, who give their time and effort to help others year after year – we even have some of the older Pink Ladies hockey players come back to run with us, as is the case this year. The hockey players are proud of their school and proud to support charity work together.”

Eaden Nunnerley, captain of one of the Pink Ladies hockey teams, said: “It means a lot to be able to support a good local cause. I know this run will be a challenge for many of us, but we will complete it as a team.”

The school would love for people to come along on Saturday (6) to cheer on the girls as they complete the race.
