Manuel Akanji has hilariously revealed a problem with Manchester City’s new away kit.

Pep Guardiola’s side opened the Champions League season with a 0-0 draw against Internazionale, a repeat of the 2023 final.

Despite playing at the Etihad Stadium, showed a new exclusive away shirt that is inspired by Oasis.

The legendary Manchester rock ‘n’ roll band recently announced that the group, led by fanatical City brothers Liam and Noel Gallagher, are reuniting and that the club is now also participating.

Akanji says that while he ‘liked’ the shirt, it still caused confusion during the match against the Italian champions.

Speaking to beIN SPORTS, the Swiss defender said: ‘I really like it. I saw it before I was at the filming when we did it for Puma.

‘Once I got confused with the referee on the sideline. I thought it was Bernardo (Silva) so I gave the ball to him.

“But other than that I really like the kit and I’m looking forward to playing with it more.”

City debuted their new, fourth album against Inter and it is inspired by the 30th anniversary of Oasis’ debut album ‘Definitely Maybe’.

Guardiola and some of his stars were involved in a photoshoot that recreated the band’s iconic album cover, featuring the kit.

The shirt has been aptly named ‘The Definitely City kit’ and will be worn in a number of selected Champions League matches throughout the season.
