Manqele signings Kaizer Chiefs should make transfer news Mayo

Kaizer Chiefs are busy strengthening their squad for the upcoming season, having already signed goalkeeper Fiacre Ntwari and defenders Bongani Sam and Rushwin Dortley.

The team’s ambitions don’t stop there, however: they want to further expand their selection with additional talent.

Former Amakhosi striker Edward Manqele gave his views on the strategic signings that could potentially return the team to its former glory in an exclusive interview with Soccer Laduma. Manqele stressed the need for more attacking prowess, reflecting on the challenges of last season, where the team struggled to convert chances into victories despite keeping clean sheets.

“I think they need to bring in more attacking players for next season. If you look at last season, there was a time when the team played six games without conceding a goal, but they didn’t score any goals to win games. That means the defense was good, but the attack wasn’t good enough,” Manqele told the Siya crew.

He suggested a number of potential players who could bolster the Chiefs’ offensive line.

“That’s why I think they should sign the players I mentioned. You know Khanyisa Mayo knows the local game and he has been one of the top scorers for almost three seasons and Fiston Mayele is doing well in Egypt. As for Elias Mokwana, Jayden Adams and Ashwin Appollis, they are doing very well for their teams and also for Bafana Bafana. We all know what Gaston Sirino can do and he has experience. If Chiefs can sign these players, they will be a team to beat this coming season. They will be fighting for silverware again,” Manqele noted.

In addition to attracting new talent, Manqele also stressed the importance of strategic player loans to promote the growth and experience of younger players.

“There are players like the youngsters who, if the coach thinks they will not play a big role this season, can be loaned out to gain playing time and experience. Players like Wandile Duba, Sabelo Radebe, Samkelo Zwane, Aden McCarthy and others. They are good players but maybe not ready to take a step forward and a loan could play an important role in their career,” Manqele told Soccer Laduma.
