Manitoba Weather: Warm temperatures continue

Warm temperatures and windy conditions will continue for another day Thursday in Winnipeg and across southern Manitoba and northwestern Ontario.

During the day, highs will reach the upper teens and low twenties with sunshine or a mix of sun and cloud in strong and gusty southerly winds.

Conditions in northern Manitoba will be more mixed this afternoon.

Areas further south will be unseasonably warm, with daytime highs in the low double digits. The northernmost regions will see temperatures in the single digits with strong gusts from the east or southeast.

In the northwest it will be cloudy with little chance of showers. Other areas, including Norwegian House, Island Lake and Gillam, will see more of a mix of sun and clouds. Churchill will do the same once the showers stop there this afternoon.

Meanwhile, lows in Alberta and Saskatchewan will spread showers into northern Manitoba today. Showers will move to Brochet and Tadoule Lake this afternoon before spreading further south this evening.

As the low pressure system moves across the north, the winds here in the south will shift tonight and come from the northwest as the trailing cold front begins to weave through. While this is the case, there is a possibility that the Southeast, including Winnipeg, will be hit with showers overnight and into Friday morning.

Friday will not be as warm as today, but temperatures are still above normal for mid-October.

Temperatures will rise again in the sunshine this weekend, with expected highs of 16 degrees Celsius in Winnipeg on Saturday and 21 degrees Celsius on Sunday.

Daytime highs in the low 20s are expected to continue Monday before we return to reality with much cooler seasonal temperatures returning Tuesday.
