Manitoba Weather: Pendulum swings towards cold weather

What a difference a day and a low pressure system make.

After hot weather records were set in southern Manitoba on Monday, temperatures will drop Tuesday afternoon.

Rain moved into Brandon late last night before arriving in Winnipeg during this morning’s commute.

As a cold front moves east, rain follows strong northwest winds and falling temperatures.

Rain will stop in Winnipeg this afternoon, leaving cloudy skies.

As rain flows eastward into northwestern Ontario, amounts will be much higher. Dryden and Fort Frances could see as much as 10-15mm before the rain lets up early this evening. There is also a chance of thunderstorms in the region this afternoon.

Meanwhile, light snow or showers are possible across most of northern Manitoba this afternoon. In most areas, daytime highs reach around freezing.

Skies will clear overnight across much of the province before sunshine returns on Wednesday.

However, those rising temperatures will not return tomorrow. By the end of October they will be much closer to normal levels.
