Manchester United are making their worst start to the season in 35 years

Manchester United recorded another disappointing result today as they drew 0-0 with Aston Villa in the Premier League match at Villa Park.

Erik ten Hag will certainly feel the pressure as he played two big games this week after the 3-0 defeat at home to Tottenham last weekend, but ultimately drew in both games against Porto and Aston Villa.

This is unlikely to appease the critics, with Man Utd now officially on their worst run at the start of a new season since the entire 1989/90 season, according to football stats specialist Opta Joe in the X-post below…

United played against a good Villa side today, so in a way there’s no shame in a draw, but it’s not really what was needed right now, and you have to wonder what it will mean for Ten Hag’s future.

The draw against Porto was also a bit of a shambles from the Red Devils, who led 2-0 in that game before trailing 3-2 at one point, even though they still managed to salvage a draw.

Is this the end of the road for Erik ten Hag at Man United?

Stats like the one above show how poorly things are going for Ten Hag at United, even after being given enough time and resources to try and turn things around.

It was never going to be easy for the Dutch tactician, but you now have to wonder if there are better managers out there who could now be an upgrade to the former Ajax boss and get more out of this expensively assembled squad.

Much of United’s current squad was signed under Ten Hag, but the likes of Antony, Andre Onana, Mason Mount, Rasmus Hojlund, Joshua Zirkzee and Matthijs de Ligt have failed to really impress so far.
