Manchester City are willing to listen to £53m flop offers

Manchester City are reportedly willing to sell Matheus Nunes before the summer transfer window deadline.

That’s according to a recent report from Football Insider, which claims Pep Guardiola’s decision to re-sign Ilkay Gundogan could lead to the 25-year-old Nunes being sacked.

Gundogan, 33, returned to the Etihad last week after being allowed to leave Barcelona after just one year at the Nou Camp. City’s eagerness to bring the 33-year-old back to England is now expected to have an impact on Nunes’ future at the club.

The Portuguese midfielder joined the six-time champions from Wolves last summer in a deal reported to be worth £53million. However, having made just nine Premier League appearances last season, the 25-year-old has struggled to establish himself as one of Guardiola’s regulars.

City’s decision-makers are believed to be seeking £40m in return for the former Wolves midfielder. Nunes’ contract, which Spotrac reports is worth £130,000-a-week, runs until 2028.

During his first and potentially final season at the Etihad, Nunes, who has 16 caps to his name, has registered five assists in 31 games in all competitions.
