Another message read: ‘Condolences to Amad Diallo and his entire family on the passing of his mother. Stay strong bro and RIP to the beautiful mother.’

Amad spoke about his mother during an interview with manutd.com in June 2021, reflecting on his United debut four months earlier.

Speaking about his first appearance for United, in the Europa League against Real Sociedad, Amad said: ‘I called my mum after the game and she was in tears. She said she couldn’t believe it.

‘For me it was a great feeling, because playing at the highest level is something you only do once in your life.

‘Mom was really proud of me. She always had faith that I would make it to the top, but she always told me to stay humble, work hard and never give up.

“So when she saw me play for those eight minutes or so, that was everything to her. We couldn’t believe it.”
