Man United to begin contract negotiations with Kobbie Mainoo in the coming weeks

Man United’s board is currently discussing all the details at the Manchester club before the transfer window closes. Once that happens, the Premier League giants will enter into talks over a new deal for Kobbie Mainoo.

The 19-year-old has made a meteoric rise through the ranks at Old Trafford over the past 12 months after making his Premier League debut against Everton in November last year. The midfielder was exceptional at Goodison Park and has not looked back since.

Mainoo played 32 games for Man United last season, scoring five goals and assisting three more. Some of those goals were huge for his team, the biggest being his strike in the FA Cup final against Man City.

In this campaign, the Red Devils talent secured a place in Gareth Southgate’s England squad for Euro 2024. In addition, the youngster started in every knockout round of the tournament in Germany.

Man United know they have a special talent at their disposal, who has become a fan favourite at Old Trafford, and they plan to build a team around Mainoo in the coming years.

With the transfer window still open, Man United are still working on deals with the Red Devils. The club hopes to sign Manuel Ugarte from PSG before Deadline Day and also wants to raise more money through player sales.

Once the transfer window closes, Sky Sports reports that Man United will sit down with Mainoo to discuss a new deal.

The contract is likely to be long-term and will include a significant pay rise, as the 19-year-old has become a key player in Erik ten Hag’s squad, which will look to grow even further in the 2024/25 season.
