Man United remain in talks with PSG over a deal for Jadon Sancho despite his reintegration into the first team – as the Red Devils explore alternative Manuel Ugarte options

  • Paris Saint-Germain remain interested in a deal for Jadon Sancho
  • Man United continue talks with the reigning Ligue 1 champions
  • The Red Devils are also looking at alternatives for midfielder Manuel Ugarte

Manchester United winger Jadon Sancho remains an option for Paris St Germain as his Premier League future remains under discussion ahead of the new season.

Negotiations have been ongoing between PSG and United all summer, with the English club also attempting to reach an agreement for midfielder Manuel Ugarte.

Sancho shone against PSG in the Champions League semi-final last season, while his career at United was in the doldrums after he left on loan to Borussia Dortmund.

Dortmund had hoped to negotiate a permanent return for Sancho to the club, but the price for a transfer for the England international has not yet been announced. For PSG, this is unlikely to have any consequences.

The reigning Ligue 1 champions are already in talks over a transfer for Sancho, who has two years left on his contract at Old Trafford with an option for a further year.

The 24-year-old was dropped from United’s first team last year after criticising manager Erik ten Hag for his performance in training following the defeat to Arsenal.

Sancho insisted at the time that he was being made a ‘scapegoat’ and subsequently refused to apologise to Ten Hag, who decided that there was no way back into their relationship unless an apology was offered.

The pair have since reunited and Sancho has proved to be an influential figure as United prepare for the season in the United States, with Ten Hag recently revealing that he could be deployed as a striker this season.

United are keen to bring in further reinforcements for the Premier League season opener against Fulham on August 16, but will have to raise funds by selling other players.

Scott McTominay has also been mentioned as a potential new signing, with United having already rejected a £20m bid from Fulham in a bid to negotiate a higher transfer fee for the Scotland international.

United continue to monitor Ugarte’s situation in Paris, but are exploring other options as PSG want more than £50m and have already made initial contact over a deal for AS Monaco’s Youssouf Fofana, who is also attracting interest from AC Milan.

Burnley’s Sander Berge and Palmeiras’ Richard Rios are also among the players valued by United.
