Man treated for assault in Daleville car park; suspect arrested

DALEVILLE, Va. (WDBJ) – One man has been arrested and another is being treated after an assault in Botetourt County, according to the Botetourt County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies responded the afternoon of Nov. 9, 2024, to reports of a fight between two men in the parking lot of Advanced Auto Parts in the 1500 block of Roanoke Road in Daleville. The fight then escalated and one of the men began attacking bystanders in the parking lot, the sheriff’s office said.

Officers identified and arrested a suspect, Daniel R. Horne, 35. They also found a victim in the parking lot on his hands and knees with “obvious severe lacerations to the head,” the sheriff’s office said. a hospital with serious injuries. More victims were also identified.

Horne, of Roanoke, has been charged with two counts of malicious wounding and one count of assault and battery. He is being held without bond at the Botetourt-Craig Regional Jail. No mugshot has been released.
