Man tells of narrow escape from death on Kisumu-Kakamega Highway Blackspot, where 10 people were killed

Vihiga: A man identified as Patrice Akoyo has recalled the day he almost lost his life at Iguhu black spot where another accident occurred on November 13 and left 10 people dead.

“About two years ago, when I was driving from an evening class in Kakamega, my car rolled several times in the same sport. I woke up to find myself at Friends Jumia Hospital in Kaimosi, Vihiga Province, with an ambulance ready to to take me to Kisumu,” he said.

Where is Masinde Muliro University?

According to the part-time lecturer at Masinde Muliro University in Kakamega, a tractor carrying sugarcane had a mechanical problem and was parked in his lane.

“Because there was no turn signal above any signal in the other lane, a bus came head-on in the lane I was supposed to be going into and I swerved to avoid a forward collision, causing my car to roll over several times ” he said.

Although the Toyota Alion was still new, it was written off. I survived; it is a miracle,” he added.

According to the young man, living today was one of the miracles that ever happened on this earth.

“My heart goes out to families and friends who have lost their loved ones just as the day was considered over and many may be returning home from their daily hustle and bustle,” he said.

School bus carrying 47 people to a funeral crashes

On Tuesday, August 13, a St Luke’s Lumakanda Boys High School bus lost control and rolled near the town of Lumakanda.

The bus was carrying 47 passengers who were on their way to a funeral ceremony when the accident happened.

There were no fatalities, but the injured were rushed to Lumakanda County Hospital for treatment.
