Man shot dead in Twin Peaks parking lot, investigation ongoing

INDEPENDENCE, Mo. (KCTV) – Late Saturday night, Independence Police responded to a shooting near the I-470 and Route 291 cloverleaf interchange.

The incident happened around 11 p.m. on Nov. 16 at the Twin Peaks restaurant at 19821 East Jackson Drive.

When officers arrived, they found a man in the parking lot with a gunshot wound. He was taken to an area hospital and later pronounced dead.

A person of interest was arrested in the restaurant.

The circumstances leading up to the shooting are unclear, but they are under investigation. Independence Police say there is no threat to the community.
