Man sentenced to 10 years in prison, with another three years suspended for suspicious death of 26-year-old

HARRISONBURG, Va. (WHSV) – Aaron Gordon Jr., the man convicted of killing 26-year-old Towan Cappell, has been sentenced to 10 years in prison for voluntary manslaughter, with an additional three years suspended.

Cappell went missing in August 2022 and his remains were found in the 400 block of Eastover Drive in Harrisonburg, just down the road from Oak Hill Apartments. Cappell’s mother, sister and former babysitter testified and said they found Cappell’s hair and teeth at the scene of his murder.

According to Rockingham County Commonwealth’s Attorney Marsha Garst, Gordon was seen burning Cappell’s clothing.
