It is alleged that Ceinaturaga hit the child with an aluminum cooking spoon and then slammed the child’s head against the wall before throwing him onto a mattress.

It is also alleged that the suspect hit the three-year-old brother of the deceased child and bit him on the face.

Ceinaturaga also allegedly attacked his de facto partner, the mother of the two children.

Police had previously confirmed that medical officials informed Totogo police of the case after the child was pronounced dead at the Colonial War Memorial Hospital.

The case was referred to the police because the victim had suffered visible injuries as a result of an assault.

Police had also said that the investigation revealed that the suspect had also assaulted the victim’s three-year-old brother, who was found inside the home with visible injuries.

The case has been transferred to the Supreme Court, where it will be heard on 4 next month.

Ceinaturaga has waived the right to legal assistance.
