Man charged with assault and burglary after stabbing in Coventry

COVENTRY, CT (WFSB) – A man involved in a fight with two other people in Coventry has turned himself in to police.

Police identified the suspect as 48-year-old Daniel Chagnot of Bolton.

Shortly after midnight on November 1, officers were dispatched to an address on South Street in Coventry for a disturbance.

They said that upon arrival, officers discovered a man with a knife wound on the ground near the edge of the road.

According to police, the disturbance started at a nearby home and involved two men and a woman.

The suspect entered the home and caused a disturbance, police said.

The disturbance turned physical and a male victim suffered injuries from being attacked with a knife.

The man, Chagnot, fled the scene, but later turned himself in to police.

Chagnot was charged with first-degree assault, second-degree menacing, disorderly conduct, second-degree criminal mischief and home invasion.

He was held on a $50,000 bond and was arraigned in court on November 1.

According to Connecticut court records, police said Chagnot’s bond was increased to $250,000 and he was being held at the Department of Correction.
