Maker of Onewheel E-Skateboards Reduces Most Nose Dive Defect Claims

Onewheel users who alleged that Future Motion Inc. had a defective design for its one-wheeled electronic motorized skateboard failed to clearly identify what the alleged defect was, a federal judge ruled. The judge dismissed most of their claims in a consolidated class action.

The skateboarders claimed that their Onewheels unexpectedly stopped or failed while they were riding, causing them to fall off the board into a nose dive. But “the Onewheel’s tendency to nose dive is not a defect, but an effect,” the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California said Friday.
