Mac & Cheese Brand Sold at Target, Stop & Shop and Safeway Recalled

A brand of macaroni and cheese sold by mega-chains including Target, Safeway and Stop & Shop has been voluntarily recalled over concerns that the products may have spoiled due to refrigeration issues, a report shows.

Reser’s Fine Foods recalled two of its macaroni and cheese products last week: the regular version and the white cheddar version, Newsweek reported.

The brand recalled the 12oz products, which are sold in California, Illinois, Minnesota, North Dakota and South Dakota, after a refrigeration unit on a trailer malfunctioned, the publication reported.

The recall has been classified as a Class II risk, meaning the product “may cause temporary or medically reversible adverse health effects or the likelihood of serious adverse health effects is remote,” the Food and Drug Administration said..

Twelve more products from the brand have been recalled, including Reser’s Essential Everyday Original Potato Salad – 16 oz, Reser’s American Classics Scalloped Potatoes – 12 oz, Reser’s American Classics Asiago Creamed Spinach – 12 oz, and Reser’s Raspberry Parfait Desserts – 8 lbs, Newsweek reported.

Customers who have purchased any of the recalled items are advised not to consume the products. People with allergies should take precautions.

Reser’s Fine Foods also voluntarily recalled Hill Country Fare Mustard Potato Salad 48oz in July. The salad was sold at HEB and Joe V’s Smart Shop locations in Texas. According to the FDA, there were possibly pieces of hard plastic in the packaging.
