LSU quarterback Garrett Nussmeier signs massive NIL deal for 2024 season

LSU quarterback Garrett Nussmeier has added a new name, image and likeness deal to his portfolio after partnering with Powerhouse.

Powerade signed a handful of college football players to NIL deals prior to the 2024 season: Georgia QB Carson Beck, LSU QB Garrett Nussmeier, USC WR Zachariah Branch, Iowa RB Kaleb Johnson and Florida State DE Patrick Payton.

The five players will star in a national Powerade marketing campaign this fall called “Commitment Takes More” for the Coca-Cola brand.

“We decided to pivot and really focus on college sports,” Thomas Gargiulo, chief marketing officer at BodyArmor, another Coca-Cola sports drink, said in an interview. “It was an area that was underutilized, especially within our category.”

Powerade has now added a total of 35 athletes to their brand, without any deals, as the 2024-2025 school year begins.

The brand serves as the official hydration partner for 23 universities across the country, with the new promotion an extension of Powerade’s “It Takes More” campaign.

“As the official hydration partner for many major programs, we want Powerade to become synonymous with college football. What better way to do this than by partnering with some of the best athletes in the country for our latest campaign,” said Tom Gargiulo, Body Armour’s chief marketing officer, in a statement. “These elite players embody who we are as a brand and are committed to reaching the next level. Given the vast reach of college football, we’re excited to tap into that network of fans and consumers to show that Powerade stands out from the competition.”

Nussmeier’s portfolio continues to grow as he prepares for his first season as the Tigers’ starting quarterback, having signed a deal with Gordon McKernan Injury Attorneys last year.

He’s landed a handful of deals in recent months and after opting to stay in Death Valley rather than enter the NCAA Transfer Portal, McKernan made sure to reward the Tiger, who is in his fourth year, with a NIL deal as his player base continues to grow.

“I am excited to welcome Garrett to the G Team. I am confident that this partnership will be mutually beneficial and look forward to working with Garrett throughout his career. Expect to see Garrett in our marketing soon,” McKernan wrote on social media.
