Louisiana weather forecast warms up after Hurricane Francine | Hurricane Center

Temperatures are expected to rise in southeastern Louisiana in the coming days as the remnants of Hurricane Francine move away from the region and hundreds of thousands of residents across the state face ongoing power outages.

Hannah Lisney, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service in New Orleans, said at a briefing Thursday morning that temperatures as high as 100 degrees Fahrenheit are expected in some parts of southern Louisiana this weekend.

“I know no one wants to hear this, but the sun is going to come out and the temperatures are going to rise,” Lisney said. “Luckily we don’t have extreme heat this weekend, but it is going to warm up a bit.”

“So if you’re outside and you’re helping your neighbor, you’re cleaning up your own yard or you’re doing something outside to recover, please drink lots of water, make sure you wear sunscreen, dress in light-colored clothing and please, please, please listen to your body,” Lisney said. “If you need a break, take a break in the shade, take a break inside.”
