Louise Rydqvist is the 2024 European Women’s Amateur Champion. The Swede emerged victorious from a last-round battle with Meja Örtengren and Andrea Revuelta to ultimately lift the trophy in what was likely her last chance.
Rydqvist teed off as the leader of the night, setting the tone with birdies on holes 2 and 3 of the final round. But her opponents had also started well, as Spain’s Andrea Revuelta proved, making three birdies on the first five holes.

Meja Örtengren played in the last group together with her Swedish compatriot and was also quickly on the move with birdies on 1 and 5.

But Revuelta and Örtengren had to endure a birdie drought on the back nine, which only ended on the final green for both players. The Spaniard was able to secure the silver medal, while Örtengren secured bronze.

Louise Rydqvist was still on top after nine holes, but eventually managed to break away from the rest with birdies on holes 13 and 16. She had a two-stroke lead over Revuelta after hole 17, meaning she could enjoy her walk down the final fairway.

She closed out the championship with a final birdie, winning by three strokes at 14 under par.

Louise Rydqvist’s return to South Carolina University will be slightly delayed this year. She will make her first Major appearance on August 22 at the AIG Women’s Open in St Andrews.
