LoL players are tired of trolling off-meta choices that ruin their ranked games

It’s no secret that ranked matches in League of Legends are competitive, and players are tired of people not taking the rankings seriously by picking toxic off-meta or pocket picks, running them, and ruining everyone’s matches and ranks.

Many players, such as Lucri van de Competition subreddit, have discovered that people just don’t care about rankings Competition more. Their teammates are more than willing to try out new champions and try it out, and it’s gotten to the point where players are fed up with people not taking ranked games seriously.

For the most part, players agree that you should do your best in your ranked games, because it is literally called ranked for a reason, and they believe that it is possible to have fun even while trying to win. When you play ranked, you are there because you have a specific role and a group of champions that you excel at and want to get better at playing. But there are cases where you may have to make a choice or take a route outside the meta. If this happens, it should be a champion you know and have experience playing, not a new pick or a random champion you saw on a YouTube video or stream about because it looked fun.

While all of these points are valid, some players believe that it doesn’t matter which champion you play because if they have the same MMR as you, they should be mechanically gifted enough to play whichever champion they choose. However, one player pointed out that a player’s MMR is centered around his win rate. It doesn’t judge players based on their decision to fool or their attitude. So you can never tell if someone chooses one of these pocket picks or obscure champions because they know they can pull it off or because they had a bad day and want to cause chaos. It’s these types of choices where players figure it out that many have a problem with, feeling like it’s just trolling.

This post and the debate among players raised some good points about what is considered toxic, trolling, and bullying in Ranked matches. Some players believe that we should not be slaves to the meta and have the freedom to choose what we want to play, as long as we have a good mentality and not just grieve and rant. Other players think the real problem here is that they get mad at each other for not taking the rankings seriously enough and use their passion as an excuse to torch their teammates and be toxic.

My two cents: I don’t mind having a teammate outside the meta, especially if they have a good mentality, communicate and are willing to dive in and give it their all. Even if we lose, I don’t mind because they tried, and that’s enough for me, and I’ll move on to my next match. It’s only those who choose off-meta choices and implement them that cause problems for everyone else.

The reality is that if you want to rise in ranked games, you need to focus on improving your gameplay and performance and learn to adapt. If you can deal with the misfortunes that come your way, you will be better off for it. And when you get a troll match, many players think you should just accept it and not let it affect you, because one bad play isn’t the end of the world.

No matter how bad it stinks, you have no control over everything that happens inside you Competition games. All you can do is learn, improve, adapt, and take a deep breath when things go wrong.
