Local youth play successfully in regional softball teams

WHEATLAND – Numerous local athletes have competed in softball across the region and the country. Here are a few highlights from recent state tournaments. If you have any additions, please let us know.
Camryn Mickelsen, Rylee Coates and McKenzie Lockman competed for Cheyenne Extreme 18U. Their team placed second at the Mtn. States Championship in Arvada, Colorado, finishing with a 35-7-1 record.
Delaney Aurich played for the Laramie Lightning 18U this season. At state they went 3-3 and finished with an 18-15 record, ranking 4th in Wyoming.

Wyoming State Champions Landri Vaughn and Maggie Hicks competed for WYCO 16U. They finished with a 30-11-1 record.

On a separate WYCO 16U team, Carly Robertson, Halle Mickelsen and Ayden Coates also went to state. They placed third at the Wyoming State Tournament in Gillette. Their team had a record of 9-17.

Whitley Vaughn played for WYCO 14U in the competitive league. Her team played in the state championship, but came up just short with a second place finish and a final record of 24-21-1.

The state champions in the 14U competition are Mya Connell, Peyton Teton, Sophie Meyer and Kamlee Collar. They played for the Laramie 14U team.

The 12U Wyoming State Champions included Kenley Struble and Leeann Tittle.

Tori Fowler, Willow Villamor and Payson Goff played for the 12U Torrington Thunder team and finished fourth at the state tournament.
