Loaded weapon, drugs found after stabbing in the city on Saturday

Researchers have identified several individuals of interest; Officers went to the area of ​​St. Vincent and Rose streets in an attempt to locate them, but three people remain at large

Barrie police have released new details about their investigation as they continue to search for suspects in a Saturday morning attack that left one victim stabbed and the perpetrators fleeing police.

In the early hours of November 16, police say officers received reports of an assault on Dunlop Street, which left one victim with a minor stab wound.

Police say the attack happened sometime between 2:30 a.m. and 3:15 a.m

Police say investigators have been able to identify several persons of interest. Officers went to an address near St. Vincent and Rose streets in Barrie in an attempt to locate the individuals.

With the assistance of uniformed officers, detectives conducted a traffic stop as the suspects left the address in a vehicle, police said.

Police say two men were arrested while trying to flee from officers.

Officers found a loaded handgun that had been thrown away by a third person, as well as a quantity of drugs, according to police.

However, the subsequent investigation revealed that the two people arrested were not persons of interest in the Dunlop Street stabbing.

The third person who was in the vehicle and fled was believed to be with the person responsible for the stabbing at the time of the attack. These persons are still wanted by the police.

In regards to the downtown stabbing, police said they are seeking the identities of the individuals depicted in the attached photos.

Police ask anyone who can identify these individuals or has information about this incident to contact the investigating officer (email protected).

In regards to the traffic stop, police say a 30-year-old Scarborough man is facing numerous drug and firearm-related charges, as well as a charge of assault on a peace officer.

A 23-year-old Brampton man is also facing numerous drug and firearms related charges.

During the arrest, police said one of the suspects was injured and as a result the Special Investigations Unit (SIU) was notified and invoked their mandate.
