Living legend Kelly Slater announces transition from high performance surfing to responsive parenting before childbirth!

Child prodigy 2.0

There is no one here, there or anywhere that could possibly challenge Kelly Slater’s significance to surfing. The 57-year-old Floridian burst onto the scene as a pre-teen, ripping and chomping, diving and sliding on ocean waves in a way that had never been seen before. He looked like a prodigy and smelled like a prodigy, but prodigy is in the taste, and Cocoa Beach’s own has changed our palates forever.

Decades of domination, of innovation, of ruling were a pastime for kings.

He is the only surfer, apart from maybe Laird Hamilton, who has a big name, with 12 world titles, 10 US Opens, 8 Pipe Masters, 6 Shark Watches, 4 Eddies, 2 Bells and a wave tank in Lemoore.

A living legend.

And so the whole world was in ecstasy when Slater and his girlfriend Kalani Miller announced that they were having a baby.

Child prodigy 2.0.

But how do you make something like that? And would Slater have the time/energy to take it seriously as a living legend?

The first signs indicate that this is a resounding yes.

At the well-visited miraculous spring @responsiveparentinghuba photo was posted of a baby Einstein reading all alone. The attachment read: “We began the daily practice of ‘Quiet Time’ when our daughter was a baby.

‘Quiet Time’ is clearly essential because of the capitalization and ‘ ‘.

Slater, a true innovator, liked the post.

Obviously, I didn’t have a Quiet Time as a child and… well, I don’t have to tell you how that turned out.

The best surfer who ever did it, at least at the age of 59, with energy left in the tank, is distancing himself from the competition. That energy seems to be continuing the dynasty.

S1at3r?

S14ter?

S1ate5?

That will undoubtedly increase as the story develops.
