Liverpool star Alisson blames teammates after Nottingham Forest defeat

Liverpool suffered an unexpected defeat to Nottingham Forest at Anfield.

The Arne Slot era got off to a perfect start as the Reds opened the season with three wins in three games, without conceding a goal.

They started the season with victories against Ipswich, Brentford and Manchester United.

The Merseyside club were the heavy favourites to beat Forest at Anfield, but Callum Hudson-Odoi’s 72nd-minute winning goal came as a huge surprise and took the Reds by surprise.

It was the first goal Alisson had conceded for Liverpool this season, and the Brazilian goalkeeper was surprised.

After the defeat, the goalkeeper blamed some teammates for their poor play.

“We failed to play better – when we made substitutions – with the ball,” said Alisson, quoted by Sky Sports.

“We didn’t create that many real chances. Because they defended very well, but also a bit of mediocre football from our side today.

“We didn’t adapt quickly enough. We conceded three counterattacks before we conceded a goal on a counterattack. We have to defend better in those situations.

Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson was unable to stop Callum Hudson-Odoi’s winning shot.

“Hudson-Odoi had too much freedom to do what he wanted with the ball, dribbling and shooting. It was poor defense from us.”

This defeat is a harsh reality for Liverpool’s new manager: any team in the Premier League can beat any other team.

It doesn’t matter if you beat your biggest rivals 3-0 in their own backyard in the previous match, even teams threatened with relegation can surprise you with their performances.

It was Forest’s first win at Anfield since 1969, a testament to the remarkable achievement of Nottingham Forest manager Nuno Espirito Santo.

Forest manager tactically defeated Liverpool manager

Nuno won the tactical battle against Slot, with Hudson-Odoi and Anthony Elanga both coming on from the bench and combining to win the match for the visitors.

Liverpool next play Bournemouth in the Premier League and will be hoping for another winning moment.

The Reds will play in the Champions League in midweek with an away match against AC Milan in Milan.

The coming weeks are expected to be busy as the Merseyside club will be active in the Premier League, Champions League and EFL Cup.
