Liverpool “extremely close” to £25m transfer deal with PL club but fears of potential hijacking

Liverpool “extremely close” to £25m transfer deal with PL club but fears of potential hijacking

Liverpool are reportedly close to selling Dutch defender Sepp van den Berg to Brentford for £25 million, according to the BBC’s Nizaar Kinsella.

Bayer Leverkusen are also interested in Van den Berg at the Reds and it seems that Brentford still fear a possible hijacking in the final phase.

Kinsella believes Van den Berg is likely to join Brentford for £25million, but adds that the Bees fear a repeat of the Archie Gray transfer deal when Tottenham secured their move for him earlier this summer.

See below for the latest details from Kinsella on his official page on X, formerly Twitter…

Van den Berg seemed a promising young player for a long time, but he has struggled to break through to the star duo of LFC. So it may be logical that he is leaving now.

£25m is a very good amount for Liverpool for a player they have barely used, so fans of the Merseyside giants will certainly be pleased with this clever deal.

It probably won’t be easy for Brentford to beat a big name like Leverkusen, but perhaps the 22-year-old could find it attractive to stay in the Premier League for a while longer.
