Liberty University students complete the Murph Challenge in honor of the fallen Navy Seal

On Saturday, Liberty University students completed the Murph Challenge in honor of Lt. Michael Murphy.

He was a Navy Seal who was killed in action in Afghanistan in 2005.

The challenge includes a one-mile run, 100 pull-ups, 200 push-ups, 300 air squats, and then another mile.

This is the second year for this student-run event.

All money raised will go to the National Center for Healthy Veterans, a local organization that helps veterans deal with trauma from war.

“We wanted to come here and honor those who sacrificed their lives and their time for us. Because without this we don’t have this as a country. We are very honored and blessed to live in the greatest world. country in the world,” says Nick Salonites, founder of the LU Murph Challenge.

This year, LU’s Murph Challenge will raise approximately $50,000 for charity. Last year they raised about $40,000.
