Leeds United in pole position to sign 13-goal, 5-assist striker – report

Leeds United are in pole position to sign Manuel Benson, according to the latest news from HITC’s Graeme Bailey.

The Whites are in talks with the Championship club over a deal for the 27-year-old Belgian, who is keen to move to Elland Road.

Benson, who joined Burnley from Royal Antwerp in the summer of 2022, made an immediate impression in his debut season, scoring 13 goals and providing 5 assists as he helped the Clarets to promotion to the Premier League.

However, he has struggled to match that form in the top division, making just 8 appearances last season without scoring.

Leeds United need reinforcements

Leeds United, who are in the Championship after being relegated last season, are keen to strengthen their wingers following the departure of several key players, including Crysencio Summerville, Archie Gray, Glen Kamara and Luis Sinisterra.

With Benson continuing to slide down the table at Burnley, a move to Leeds could offer him the chance to revive his career in English football.

Benson’s potential arrival would provide Leeds with much-needed attacking reinforcements as they look to return to the Premier League quickly.

His experience and proven track record in the Championship could make him a valuable asset to the team as they face the challenges of the coming season.
