The Heat will unveil Wade’s statue on Sunday, October 27, then celebrate the honor with a “statue night” during their game against the Detroit Pistons on Monday, October 28.

After being selected fifth overall by the Heat in 2003, Wade was named Finals MVP when he brought the franchise’s first title to Miami in 2006.

James and Wade would later be teammates for four seasons with the Heat, helping the team reach the NBA Finals four times and win the title in 2012 and 2013.

After stints with the Chicago Bulls and Cleveland Cavaliers, Wade returned to the Heat, but retired after the 2018–19 season. He averaged a career-high 22.0 points per game.

In 2020, his jersey was retired by the Heat. James celebrated the achievement with a video honoring his former teammate.

There’s a chance James could attend the statue unveiling, which takes place between games in Los Angeles this fall, though the timing would be tight. He and the Lakers are scheduled to be in Phoenix the following night for a road game against the Suns.
