Law student, 20, ‘could face jail after making gross racist insult to Arsenal winger Bukayo Saka in audio message on social media’

A law student who made a racist insult in an online tirade against Arsenal star Bukayo Saka is facing a prison sentence.

According to The Sun, 20-year-old Arsenal fan Suhel Ali uploaded an audio message addressed to Saka on X.

In the message, Ali is heard calling Saka a “fucking black dick.”

Ali called Saka ‘the worst winger I’ve ever seen at my club’, using the N-word when referring to the England international, saying: ‘You’re a monkey – you’re a fucking monkey.’

Ali’s outburst followed Arsenal’s defeat at Nottingham Forest on May 20, 2023, a result that confirmed Mikel Arteta’s side missed out on the Premier League title as Manchester City became champions.

Ali, from Wembley, is a student at City University in London. He admitted sending an offensive message.

Judge Briony Clarke granted Ali bail until October 8, saying: “I’m not going to sentence you today, but I’m not ruling anything out.”

Ali’s mother helped police track down his IP address. She also gave officers his email address.

Westminster Crown Court heard that Ali told police during questioning that he had sent the voicemail out of frustration.

His lawyer Robert Moxon stated that Ali, like Saka, is of Nigerian descent.

He said, “He used the N-word in that tweet, but he didn’t use it in a racist context, he used it in an offensive context.”

The judge then asked about Ali’s use of the word “monkey,” to which Moxon replied that Ali used the word to “suggest that Bukayo Saka is stupid.”

He added: ‘He just fired off some really stupid, insulting comments about the way a footballer was playing.’
