Latest news on trade targets Hopkins, Kirk, more

play

The NFL trade deadline is Tuesday, November 5 at 4:00 PM ET. We’ve already seen two high-profile wide receivers leave, but there’s still plenty of time for other big players to find themselves on different squads. It’s not just recipients either; Defensive studs like Las Vegas’ Maxx Crosby have also seen their names thrown around, and while some of them have adamantly denied trade rumors, others could be very close to wearing new colors.

Here are the latest NFL trade rumors.

OPINION: Tom Brady’s conflict of interest reflects superstar privilege in the NFL

Raiders don’t seem interested in trade offers for Maxx Crosby

With Crosby’s teammate Davante Adams headed to New Jersey, there was speculation that the Las Vegas Raiders would be more inclined to trade other pieces, most notably star pass rusher Maxx Crosby. However, Raiders owner Mark Davis has put an end to all that talk. The Athletic reports that Davis is discouraged by all the “outside talk” he’s heard about Crosby. “It just doesn’t happen,” Davis says.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter report backs this up even further. Earlier this week, Schefter claimed that a trade involving multiple first-round picks still wouldn’t be enough to make the Raiders move on their defensive talent. Couple that with Crosby’s insistence on staying in Vegas despite their current 2-4 record, and it seems increasingly unlikely that Crosby’s name will end up on another jersey.

DeAndre Hopkins on the way?

Amid all the receiver movement, five-time Pro Bowler DeAndre Hopkins is another name being thrown around a bit. However, its market seems rather undefined at the moment. Bleacher Report’s James Palmer believes Hopkins should be the next name, but Hopkins has previously expressed his satisfaction with playing in Tennessee. Additionally, the Titans don’t seem interested in blowing up their roster just yet, despite their lack of early success.

The Kansas City Chiefs, who lost both Rashee Rice and Marquise “Hollywood” Brown earlier this year, would be an ideal trade target, and have even previously expressed interest in Hopkins, pursuing a trade with the Arizona Cardinals for him before he signed with Tennessee in free agency.

The Chiefs are not “aggressive”

Despite the Chiefs’ need at receiver, they don’t seem inclined to spend capital on anyone so far. There are a host of options, including Hopkins and other stars like New York’s Mike Williams, Jacksonville’s Christian Kirk and even Carolina’s Diontae Johnson. However, ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler reports that the Chiefs haven’t been “overly aggressive” in their search for a star.

The Chiefs could instead opt to bring back some of their former wide receivers, such as Marquez Valdes-Scantling, who became a free agent after being released by the Bills following the Amari Cooper trade. As things stand, Mahomes’ receivers will likely remain the same for the rest of the season.

The Mike Williams trade isn’t happening anytime soon

After the New York Jets acquired Davante Adams, former Los Angeles Charger Mike Williams was pushed even further down the Jets’ depth chart, to No. 4. ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler believes no deal will be done this week, but next week we could see Williams shipped out. He claims both the Jets and Williams are open to a trade.

“(Both parties) seem comfortable moving forward,” Fowler said. “I hear he is open to a trade and the team knows that.”

Williams missed Jets practice today due to “personal issues.”

Following the Bills’ Monday Night Football loss to the Jets in Week 6, quarterback Aaron Rodgers seemingly threw Williams under the bus for the game-winning interception.

It’s not confirmed that Rodgers was talking about Williams in the video above, but given the circumstances, it’s very likely. It is unclear whether Rodgers’ statements had anything to do with Williams’ absence from training or his request for a trade.

Cowboys are not expected to be active at the deadline

After an embarrassing loss to the Detroit Lions, Cowboys owner Jerry Jones appears to have confidence in the group he has now. During an interview on 105.3 The Fan, Jones said he believes the team currently has “great personnel” and is unlikely to make any aggressive moves at the deadline.

Dallas has serious needs at running back and defense, especially due to injuries to Micah Parsons. However, despite these glaring issues, Dallas is still at .500 heading into Week 7. Although other teams in their division, such as the Washington Commanders and Philadelphia Eagles, have taken steps forward to prevent the Cowboys from repeating as NFC East champions , Jones still believes his team has the talent to take them down.
