Latest attack in Turkey: four killed in ‘terror attack’; reports that hostages have been taken; first images show suspected shooter | World news

Us international correspondent John Sparks is in this story and has summarized what local media are saying about the incident.

It is important to note that none of these reports have been confirmed by official sources yet.

“A group of attackers allegedly arrived at the factory by taxi and then gained access to the (building) complex during a shift,” Sparks said.

Afterwards, reports say “some kind of explosive device” was detonated and armed gunmen entered the premises and shots were heard, he added.

A reminder that three people were killed and 14 injured, according to Turkey’s Interior Minister, who also said two of the attackers were killed.

About the target – a Turkish state defense company – Sparks says it makes fighter jets.

“It builds F-16 jets – US-licensed F-16 jets – it also builds transport aircraft, surveillance aircraft, helicopters and drones.

“It is one of the largest defense industry manufacturers in Turkey.”
