Lashana Lynch used this red carpet premiere for The Jackal to announce that she is expecting her first child, which is very exciting for her. She told me Fashion she felt comfortable and in control in this, unlike in a costume, which is great and all – but she confused me a bit when she said of this Ottolinger dress: ‘I wanted the look very simple, gripping and effective.” I can think of many adjectives for this, very few of which are positive; I doubt I would have chosen ‘poignant’ and ‘simple’ Certainly is not one of them. The fabric on the top looks like what happens when your TV tries to stretch a 4:3 ratio movie to letterbox size (to be clear, that has nothing to do with that and everything to do with how the fabric is printed ). I’m so glad she was happy and comfortable, but for now I’m going to wrap my retinas and furrow my brow and go.
