Lara said he is the fastest, Shehzad about Pakistan fast past Akhtar

Pakistani batsman Ahmed Shehzad remembered legendary West Indian batsman Brian Lara and said that Mohammad Zahid was the fastest bowler he had ever faced.

Zahid represented Pakistan in only five Tests and 11 ODIs but left a lasting impression throughout his cricket career.

He is said to be faster than Shoaib Akhtar, who holds the record for the fastest ball ever bowled in international cricket at 161.3 km/h (100.2 mph).

Given Lara’s praise for the 47-year-old, Shehzad included the Gaggo Mandi native in his Pakistan squad.

“Zahid has played very little cricket and I remember Brian Lara once saying, he is the fastest I have ever played,” Shehzad said on Geo News‘ Hasna Manah Hi.

Pakistan team recently participated in the 2024 T20 World Cup and lost to the United States and India, but then bounced back by beating Canada and Ireland.

Despite finishing the group stage with a 2-2 score, the men in green failed to progress to the Super Eights.
