Lakers rumors: Bronny James expected to play in the G League after five-game road trip | News, scores, highlights, stats and rumors

Bronny James will soon split his time between the Los Angeles Lakers roster and the team’s G League affiliate, the South Bay Lakers.

ESPN’s Shams Charania and Dave McMenamin reported that James will travel with the Lakers for their Oct. 28-November performance. 6 road trip, but then starts splitting time between Los Angeles and South Bay.

His father and teammate, Lebron James, said the decision will allow Bronny to develop as a player.

“I’m just looking forward to seeing him continue to grow as a basketball player, whether it’s with us or with the G League team and just keep getting better and better,” LeBron James said, according to McMenamin and Charania. “His job is to work hard and keep getting better, just like the rest of us. And we want to hold him accountable, and he’s going to hold us accountable. And if we all do that, we’ll all get better, because we are all one team. We are a reflection of South Bay; South Bay is a reflection of us.”

Bronny James made his NBA debut on October 22, logging three minutes, grabbing one rebound and going 0-for-2 from the floor.

He played alongside his father in the 110–103 win, becoming the first father-son duo in NBA history to do so.

The Lakers host the Phoenix Suns on Friday night before beginning their six-game road trip. The G League season starts on September 9, so Bronny James will appear in South Bay’s season opener against the Salt Lake City Stars.

He will likely continue in a deep bench role for Los Angeles, but should get a starting opportunity with South Bay.
