Klay Thompson’s father Mychal has only regrets about his son’s Warriors tenure – NBC Sports Bay Area & California

Some NBA fans loved it.

Most fans hated them.

Regardless of what fans thought of the Kevin Durant-era Warriors, one thing was for sure: the team was historically good.

Durant only lasted three seasons with Golden State, but it’s hard not to wonder what might have been had he stayed a Warrior longer. Count Klay Thompson’s father, Mychal, in that group.

During an interview with 95.7 The Game’s “Willard and Dibs” on Monday, Mychal revealed that his biggest regret about his son’s time with the Warriors is that the Durant era didn’t last long enough.

“The only regret I have about (Klay’s) time in the Bay Area is that the Kevin Durant, Steph (Curry), Draymond (Green), Klay era ended way too soon,” Thompson said. “I wish those four would have stuck together for the rest of their careers and won five or six or seven championships if they had stayed healthy.”

Like many Warriors fans, Thompson hoped his son could continue the Golden State dynasty until they retired together, “but obviously that wasn’t to be.”

Still, Mychal has nothing but positive things to say about Klay’s time with the Warriors.

“That’s the only negative thing I think of when I think of the Bay Area,” Thompson concluded.

Despite the high-profile rift between Thompson and Golden State, there doesn’t appear to be much bad blood on either side.
