Kieran Trippier could leave Magpies this summer

This summer looks set to be a decisive one in the career of England international Kieran Trippier.

There have reportedly been rumours, including from Sky Sports, suggesting the 33-year-old wants to leave Newcastle to secure regular first-team football.

Trippier has been an excellent performer for the Magpies and was one of the first big names to arrive during Eddie Howe’s tenure.

But time waits for no good reason and with Trippier nearing the end of his career, you can’t blame Howe for wanting to try out younger players in his position.

The right-back clearly believes he still has a lot to offer and could easily end up at another club before the end of the summer transfer window.

Fabrizio Romano says Kieran Trippier could leave Newcastle

“Kieran Trippier’s agents will explore various options for their client, but at this stage nothing is in place,” Fabrizio Romano told CaughtOffside for his exclusive Daily Briefing.

“Trippier can leave, but guys, let me be clear, he can also stay at Newcastle if they don’t find a good solution.

“These are exploratory talks now, there is nothing concrete yet with Everton or another club.”

Sean Dyche remained tight-lipped when pressed about his club’s potential interest in Trippier, but if a deal is possible, the Toffees will surely want to be involved in the conversation.

According to Romano, the player could still stay at St James’ Park but he clearly wants a guarantee of playing time for next season.

With only a week left in the current transfer window, the situation remains open and there will undoubtedly be plenty of surprises before the deadline passes in a week’s time.
