Kevin Owens attacks Randy Orton after WWE SmackDown showdown with Cody Rhodes

Despite being banned from the arena following a parking lot altercation after Bad Blood, where he picked up undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes, Kevin Owens appeared on “WWE SmackDown” to explain himself, attacking his former tag team partner. Owens interrupted after the arrival of “WWE NXT” talent Lash Legend and Jakara Jackson before the women were set to face tag team champions Bianca Belair and Jade Cargill. Owens took the mic and said he wasn’t supposed to be there, but he had to say Rhodes turned on him and followed the champion who teamed up with Roman Reigns to take on Solo Sikoa and Jacob Fatu.

Owens’ microphone was turned off, so he put on commentary headphones to continue his tirade as producers and security ran out. Owens’ performance also brought up Rhodes, with more assurance to stop both men before they could get physical. Randy Orton also ran out and tried to calm down Rhodes, and then Owens, who was still in the ring. Owens seemingly accidentally punched Orton in the face as he struggled with security, causing Orton to punch him back in retaliation, though he seemed to regret his right hand.

Backstage, Orton told Rhodes to get on the bus and go home. He said he would be the one to calm Owens down. Orton promised the champion that he could “fix this.” General Manager Nick Aldis was also backstage and told Rhodes he needed him healthy to take on world heavyweight champion GUNTHER in Saudi Arabia. In another backstage segment later in the night, Owens was caught beating up Orton in the parking lot and asking him if he would take sides. Security and Aldis removed Owens from Orton, who remained on the floor.
