Keshad Johnson and Isaac Jones are better Pac-12 players than Bronny

The second round of the 2024 NBA draft took place on Thursday afternoon. Bronny James landed with the Los Angeles Lakers at No. 55 overall. This was to be expected, but the process leading to the choice contained a degree of controversy. Meanwhile, other Pac-12 basketball stars who could have been chosen, however, were not selected.

As for Bronny James, let’s start with this: According to Bob Myers of ESPN, James’ agent Rich Paul (Klutch Sports) has been told that teams should not draft Bronny James. If they did select him, he would have gone to Australia rather than sign.

“Right now Rich Paul is calling teams, don’t take Bronny James. He’s telling them not to take him. Telling them not to take him, if you take him, he’s going to Australia. So he’s got a plan and he’s got a spot,” Myers reported on ESPN

Bronny only worked out for two teams during the pre-draft process, the Lakers and the Phoenix Suns. Many people didn’t like this series of events, as if Bronny didn’t deserve to be picked at No. 55. However, other teams made questionable draft picks. There were good Pac-12 players on the board — players who were better than Bronny — but NBA teams passed them up. Washington State’s Isaac Jones is one such player. Arizona’s Keshad Johnson is another. Don’t blame Rich Paul or Bronny for calling the draft. Other teams had plenty of picks and may not have done as well as they could.
