Kearney man charged with sexual assault of a child

KEARNEY, Neb. (KSNB) – A Kearney man is facing child abuse charges out of Buffalo County.

Zachary Cole, 26, is charged with first-degree sexual assault of a child.

According to Buffalo County Court documents, Cole is accused of sexually assaulting a 13-year-old earlier this year.

At the prosecutor’s request, the court sealed the affidavit, which details the case. According to the court order, it contains information that is sensitive to the investigation and could jeopardize the safety of key witnesses.

The judge set Cole’s bond at 10 percent of $1 million. He is also ordered not to have any contact with the victim, either directly or indirectly.

His preliminary hearing is scheduled for November 13 at 3:30 p.m.
