Kavaliers and Eagles cross swords in action in the third round of the First Division

The Kavaliers have won both matches so far. They’re the only ones who’ve ever done that. That shows how equal the competition is so far.

SWD will need to keep Boland Kavaliers fullback Duren Hoffman and playmaker Ashlon Davids in check if they are to remain in contention for success in Wellington. The Kavaliers group have laid a solid platform for their fleet-footed fullbacks to work their magic, and they will be looking to continue that momentum on Saturday.

A measure of the Kavaliers’ all-round attack can be seen in the fact that Davids has already managed nine conversion kicks in just two games so far, while also scoring three penalties.

EP Elephants will take their chances at home in Kariega (formerly Uitenhage) against the visiting Leopards, who in turn would be looking to redeem themselves after falling short against de Valke in Potchefstroom last week.

The Eastern Cape team will be looking to Rodney Damons and Jayden Bantom to provide the spark against Leopards. The duo have scored six goals so far, three apiece, and are particularly dangerous through broken play. The reliable Rosco Syster has also scored three goals from three outings.

The third match on Saturday afternoon is held at Kempton Park, where Valke entertains the Border Bulldogs.

Valke were back to winning ways last week in Potchefstroom and they should come out as favorites against a Border team who have played enterprising rugby so far but are still looking for their first win after two defeats.
