Kate Middleton Wears Her Eternity Ring to ‘Spread’ Negative Relationship Rumors

Earlier this year, Kate Middleton debuted a new eternity ring as she appeared alongside Prince William in a video to congratulate Team GB on the Paris Olympics. Now a jewelry expert has suggested that the Princess of Wales may have chosen to swap her engagement ring for an eternity ring for a specific reason.

Kate Middleton’s engagement ring originally belonged to Prince William’s mother, Princess Diana, making it a special piece of jewelry. The Princess of Wales even had the ring changed so she wouldn’t lose the precious heirloom.

Since announcing her cancer diagnosis, Kate has been seen without an engagement ring several times. Speaking with the EmphaticElla Citron-Thompkins of Diamonds Factory suggested that the royal family may have decided to stop wearing Diana’s ring because of “comfort or practicality.”

“The Princess of Wales may have chosen to wear the eternity marks to represent her relationship with Prince William and to mark several important milestones, such as anniversaries or births, or as a show of love and devotion,” explains Citron-Thompkins out. The jewelry expert also called the decision “a subtle nod to Kate and Will’s audience that they are more in love than ever.”

Citron-Thompkins continued: “It could simply be that it is being cleaned or enlarged, and Princess Kate used the eternity rings in place to help spread any rumors.”

Because the ring originally belonged to the late Princess Diana, it is “quite extraordinary and very valuable,” the expert noted. It makes sense that Kate chose to “keep it safe at home for most appointments.”
