Kate Cassidy mourns the loss of her on-and-off boyfriend, Liam Paynewho died on Wednesday, October 16 at the age of 31.

“Thank you for all the kind words and love sent my way,” she wrote on Friday, October 18, via Instagram Stories. Nothing about the past few days felt real. I ask and pray that you give me the grace and space to deal with this privately.”

Cassidy then called the pop star her “angel.”

“You are everything,” she continued. “I want you to know that I loved you unconditionally and completely. I will love you for the rest of my life. I love you Liam.”

One Direction alumnus Liam Payne was in a relationship with influencer Kate Cassidy for two years before he died in October 2024 at the age of 31. Payne and Cassidy were first linked in October 2022, with Cassidy posting the singer on her Instagram page just a month before Us Weekly confirmed news of his death on October 16. (…)

The former One Direction singer fell to his death from a third-floor balcony at the CasaSur Palermo Hotel in Buenos Aires. He had previously been to Argentina earlier this month to visit a former bandmate Niall Horan‘s concert at the Movistar Arena. Cassidy, 25, accompanied Payne to the show on October 2.

Payne — who shared son Bear, 7, with ex Cheryl Cole – and the influencer went public with their romance in October 2022 before making their red carpet debut at the London Fashion Awards in December of that year.

“What an amazing eye-opening experience! … I’m so glad I got to share those moments with you looking at your best friend, even the tearful ones,” Cassidy wrote in an Instagram post about her and Payne at the time. “(Louis), well done for such a beautiful film that everyone will love🤍.”

We weekly confirmed in May 2023 that the couple had split. They later reconciled and appeared together at Wimbledon later that summer.

Payne then embarked on his own solo music career, releasing his debut album, LP1with the hit single ‘Strip That Down’, in December 2019. Payne had been working on his second studio album and planned a tour of South America in 2023, but was forced to cancel the shows after suffering a serious kidney infection.

At the time, Cassidy reassured fans via social media after Payne recovered.
