Karlach is trending on X/Twitter after Baldur’s Gate 3 Patch 7 because her new evil ending is ‘Absolutely Metal’

Warning: The story below is packed with FULL SPOILERS for Baldur’s Gate 3, specifically Karlach’s new evil ending. You have been warned!

Larian Studios released its long-awaited Patch 7 on PC today, bringing with it a slew of new cinematics for players doing evil runs. As fans jump back into the RPG and explore the new content, an origin character’s new evil ending is getting a certain amount of attention.

If you’re wondering why Karlach, everyone’s favorite tiefling Barbarian, was trending on X/Twitter today, here’s why. A fan showed off her new evil ending, which you can check out below, and it’s going viral for the sole reason that it’s “absolutely metal.”

The clip shows Karlach, if you’re playing as an origin character, having seized control of The Netherbrain, effectively turning the entirety of Baldur’s Gate into her pawns. No longer the golden retriever of the group, Karlach fully embraces her newfound control as she delivers a menacing monologue to the citizens before her before summoning a horde of enemies from Avernus.

And, in a Real metal twist, the clip ends with her ripping her hellish heart out of her chest. Time for her to throw that thing away.

Besides how cool the whole cinematic is, fans are also praising the new voice lines from voice actor Samantha Beart. Beart even took the liberty of, uh, passionate reaction to the new ending.

Other fans commented on how the new scene shows Karlach’s anger and darkness, as she also addresses Gortash, her boyfriend/employer-turned-traitor, in the clip. “THIS is the Zariel-brained rage filled darkness she has, fully unleashed,” one fan wrote.

It’s also somewhat ironic that a Karlach ending is once again the focus of a Baldur’s Gate 3 conversation. In a previous patch, Larian adjusted the ill-fated character’s non-evil ending to give her story a “better conclusion.”

Karlach isn’t the only one getting a new, evil ending, though, with Larian previously revealing a dark new cinematic for a Dark Urge origin character. As for console players waiting to dive into Baldur’s Gate 3’s massive Patch 7, which also includes official mod support, Larian said earlier today that it’s set to launch on consoles sometime in October.
