After the massive success of the 2022 film Kantara, Rishab Shetty is directing a prequel to the film, titled Kantara: Chapter 1. While the film is in its filming phase, some disturbing news has emerged from the sets of the film. Some of the cast of Kantara: Chapter 1 recently suffered an accident, seriously injuring six people. A bus carrying young artistes from the film reportedly overturned near Jadkaal, near Kollur in Karnataka. The bus, carrying twenty young artists, was on its way to drop the artists off at their accommodation after the end of that day’s filming. It was traveling from Mudoor to Kollur.

When it reached Jadkaal, the bus driver lost control of the vehicle and turned the bus around. Six passengers reportedly suffered serious injuries and are currently hospitalized at the Jadkaal Mahalakshmi Clinic. The film is currently being shot in various coastal areas and many local artists from these regions are involved in the filming. The entire team of the film is waiting for further health updates from the injured performers.

Rishab Shetty’s Kantara has had two successful years since its first release. Originally planned for a pan-Indian release, Kantara was released only in Kannada for the first time due to organizational decisions. However, upon its release, the film received overwhelming demand from audiences across the country, leading to its subsequent release in multiple languages.

Now fans have an exciting update. Kantara: Chapter 1 will be released in theaters on October 2, 2025, coinciding with the Gandhi Jayanti celebrations. The film will be released in five languages. The first film won Rishab Shetty a National Award for his powerful performance. The film delved into the beliefs and folklore of coastal Karnataka, with the ancient practice of Bhoota Kola playing an important role in the story.
