Man City and Atletico Madrid have agreed a deal for Julian Alvarez worth up to £81 million (€95 million).

Talks between the clubs have been going well over the past 24 hours, with Atletico paying £64m upfront (€75m) with a further £17m in potential add-ons (€20m), which would be a record sale for City.

It represents a huge profit on the £14million the Premier League champions paid River Plate for the Argentine forward in January 2022.

Personal arrangements still need to be made, but that is not expected to be a problem.

The Summer transfer window 2024 officially closes on August 30 at 11pm UK time in the Premier League and 11.30pm in Scotland.

The Premier League has brought forward Deadline Day to align with other major leagues in Europe. The cut-off dates were set after consultation with leagues in England, Germany, Italy, Spain and France.
