Jude Bellingham investigated by UEFA over gesture after England goal | England

Jude Bellingham is facing a UEFA investigation into the indecent gesture he made after scoring his dramatic equaliser against Slovakia on Sunday, although it is considered unlikely that England’s hero of the hour will be suspended. Bellingham kept England in Euro 2024 with a last-ditch bicycle kick to force extra time and a Harry Kane goal sent England through to a quarter-final against Switzerland on Saturday.

Bellingham was shown on TV kissing his right hand before making a crotch-grabbing gesture, although he said it was “a joke to some close friends who were at the game” and was in no way aimed at the Slovakia bench.

He later tweeted the same defense. However, UEFA has found it necessary to request more information and take a closer look at the matter. They said: “An ethics and disciplinary inspector will conduct a disciplinary investigation in relation to a possible breach of basic rules of decent behavior by England Football Association player Jude Bellingham, which allegedly occurred in the context of this match.”

UEFA has also accused the English Football Association of a “lack of order or discipline” among English fans and the “exposure of fireworks” by them.
