Juan Soto scores with a thrilling Little League home run

Everything went well for Juan Soto during the New York Yankees’ game against the Tampa Bay Rays on Friday at Yankee Stadium in the Bronx, New York

The highlight of Soto’s evening was undoubtedly his Little League home run in the fourth inning.

With two outs and the bases empty, Soto came to the plate to face Rays starter Zach Eflin for the third time. Soto hit a 2-2 pitch to deep left-center field that hit the base of the wall. A misplay by Rays outfielder Randy Arozarena allowed Soto to advance to third.

The cutoff man, Rays second baseman Richie Palacios, accidentally hit Soto with the ball as the All-Star was advancing to third. The ball went into the dugout, allowing Soto to trot home for a 5-0 Yankees lead.

The match was ruled a double for Soto, with fouls attributed to Arozarena and Palacios.

The Rays simply couldn’t outplay Soto on Friday night. The four-time All-Star went 4-for-4 with two doubles and a walk in his first five plate appearances.
