Josh Kerr Breaks 43-Year-Old Record By Winning 5th Avenue Mile

Josh Kerr won the 5th Avenue Mile race in New York for the second year in a row, breaking the 43-year-old course record.

The Scot finished in three minutes and 44.3 seconds, more than three seconds faster than the previous record set by Sydney Maree in 1981.

Just three days after finishing fifth in the Zurich Diamond League, the 1500m world champion and Olympic silver medalist finished ahead of American Josh Hoey and Kenyan Amon Kemboi.

Kerr, 26, now holds two of the three fastest times in the race’s history.

His compatriot Neil Gourley finished 16th.
